quoteAlonso 1 – Kimi 0 (but Ferrari below 0) Leo Turrini
Formula1 March 16, 2014
Here I am. Sorry for the delay, but stepping into this season, my GP Sundays will always be really busy. Thus, I’m in a hurry…. but based on the premise that it is still not yet official as I write, Ricciardo faces possible exclusion from the racing classification for a gasoline problem. That said …
1) There are three presumed number twos on the podium (well, at least there was Ricciardo). That will not please Ham, Vettel and Button.
2) I think if I were Vettel fan (i.e. Philip – one of Turrini’s blog followers), I would not be too mad. Excluding the fuel history, Red Bull was not far from the Mercedes …
3) bibitari de todo el mundo, join! (*As Lenin said: workers of the entire world, unite! So Leo says: People of the RB team (including the supporters), unite! And he says that in Spanish! )
4) Let’s move on to serious things. While the Black (*Hamilton) went KAPPAO (*Knocked Down) through no fault of his own, Rosberg went for a walk in the (Albert) park. If the other competitors don’t come back in time, the world title will soon become a family affair.
5) I am a Ferrari supporter but of a Raikkonian rite, I’m an intellectually honest man too (at least, I hope I am). So, Alonso 1 – Kimi 0. In Melbourne, the Blond was no match for Alonso. But I remain convinced that Raikkonen will give as much and soon.
6) After that, the real trouble of the Ferrari is that it appears to be the same Ferrari of the past few years. The car is too slow. The Cavallino (*the Ferrari’s Italian nickname) is missing horses (*Leo is talking of horse power). The F 14 is equivalent to a T cell of the nineties, while the Mercedes is like a smartphone. There is room to recover, if they know where to put their hands. In that regard, I think they know where …
7) There was no horse power because Ferrari has not been able to optimize the electric motor and the internal combustion. I had reported that from the tests of Bahrain. On the hybrid engine, I think they’re back.
8) But Alonso has ten (twelve if they disqualify Ricciardo) points ahead of Ham and Vettel, eh eh eh …
9) Awesome Magnussen! I also liked Bottas so much. And Hulkenberg is proving to be a guarantee for points.
10) Koba went on to Massa and did me a favor, of course. (*Leo said one month ago that if Massa wins the title he will retire from journalism).
11) But (and so I close) in terms of the level of the show, how sad and how boring that there is now a vacuum generated by a heartless, soulless F1! Why F1 rulers never think about the public?

Formula1 March 18, 2014
Roll of drums. Roar of firecrackers. Outbreak of great bombs. First great school report of the year! Here we go….
MAGNUSSEN , 10 . Well, since I had almost ignored his existence, what can I say ? He ‘s gone like a splinter . I apologize for my proverbial ignorance . It’s interesting that he got ahead of Button. For quite a long time, Ron Dennis seemed to have become King Midas in reverse. (*Midas was a king who used to transform everything he touched into gold, ala “the midas touch”). It’s up to us to see that Ron is right this time!
ALONSO , 7 . I doubt that anyone could have been asked for more given the situation (the car, I mean). I think it will not be the case in Malaysia that we would have to measure the height from the ground of the F 14 T. There is a risk that Fernando’s los Cocones (balls) are already drooping dangerously close to the asphalt.
RAIKKONEN 5,5 . Ah, well… I’m not surprised by the euphoria of the anti supporters. They were lurking since mid-September 2013, and now, I’m noticing their sincere joy. But…. have patience! I did not like kimi’s qualifying session, and certainly he has some relationship problems with the car, as evidenced by those braking under straights during the race. But before the safety car, he was almost attacking Alonso despite starting from the sixth row. He did lose two positions at the pit stop not by his fault . Finally , he has at least detached from Vettel and Hamilton in the current title standings, come on!
FERRARI , 4. It’s like a great future on its back… The worst is yet to come. I am sorry but it’s not defensible.
RED BULL, ng (*cannot judge). Here I abstain from rating . Here is my explanation: if Ricciardo’s result is good (*without disqualification), considering also the failure of Vettel’s car, then we are probably witnessing a (half-) prodigy (and in any case, the pilot deserves 9 , as he trounced Vettel for both Saturday and Sunday). If the result is false (*because of a technical advantage as claimed by the FIA), then it is a shame and don’t take us the piss! If the accusation holds during RB’s official appeal, there are no excuses. However, it is absurd that a four-time world champion team explicitly states that it has voluntarily ignored the reports of the judges. Apart from the theme itself, the attitude of the RB TEAM is unacceptable . And who the f*^& think they are, the bibitari (Red Bull’s Team)? Do the rules (even if they are wrong, for goodness sake) not apply to them? Come on, have pity for me, a poor old man, please!
MERCEDES , 10 . Let’s leave aside Hamilton’s KAPPAO (knock out). My feeling, already clear in the tests of the desert, is that the Germans have pulled out a Lethal Weapon.
Rosberg , 10. Went for a walk in the park. He looks like Di Caprio, but I exclude his machine which closely resembles the Titanic.
KOBAYASHI , 9 . Spectacular . They say it was not his fault, but witnessing the scene of the start, I saw again the movie ‘ Tora tora tora ‘ . Long live to the Samurai.
Bottas , 7.5 . I liked him a lot, apart from kissing the wall. He’s a tough guy, like the Hulk (*Hulkenberg) (7.5 to him too) . Williams has considerable potential, Koba Koba Koba permitting, of course.
COLAJANNI , 10 . He’s back. The Iron Curtain is going down on the Marussia Team… at the start of the grid, there were two parked cars. Comrade Kolajanov doesn’t forgive, for those responsible will end up in a gulag. However, laughing and joking, we have already annexed the Crimea, soon we reserve the right to “occupy” the enclave of Maranello with immediate deportation of young Bisignani on an island off the coast of Siberia.
Todt , 0 . Two years to launch a regulation requiring pilots to go slowly (and Ferrari has adapted well to this delivery). Depressing F1 show, in a Battleship Potemkin style. I guess the only one who liked it was my companion, Kolajanov!

I just want to expand on this point a little bit. I have a friend who is generally not that interested in Formula 1. But he's a great friend and has travelled with me to see Formula 1 live in Austin, TX the last 2 years. He recorded the race because it started at 02:00 on the eastern coast of the USA. He calls me after he's done watching and says this..
quoteCan you please explain to me why Formula 1 has made such dramatic efforts to put more technology into the cars to slow them down, make them sound worse, and still not be able to pass each other? I fell asleep during the race because it was only 1 pit stop.. And I don't understand what any of these terms (i.e. ERS…) mean. All I know is that there was a lot of money spent to slow down cars and make about 1/3 of them not finish the race.
Another point I wanted to make about Turrini's message comes from this quote:
quoteFERRARI , 4. It’s like a great future on its back… The worst is yet to come. I am sorry but it’s not defensible.
I am not sure what to make of this statement and rating. We are only one race into the season and Turrini is making it sound like there is nothing to look forward to but doom.
Ferrari struggled in Melbourne. No doubt. And their finishes were aided by a Red Bull and Merc breaking down, a Bottas mistake and Red Bull's stubbornness not to comply with the rules. Otherwise it would have looked worse. Currently, I think Mercedes, Red Bull and 'probably' Williams are quicker than Ferrari. And given Ferrari's recent history of not being able to develop at the pace of the other top competitors, Turrini may well have a valid prognosis. But I still think it's too early to diagnose such doom. I haven't seen Kimi look that uncomfortable in an F1 car since Monaco 2012. And Ferrari also announced that they suffered performance losses due to their electrical systems. Hopefully both can be rectified by Malaysia. In addition, Ferrari also need to hope that the wind tunnel calibration is improved! And this is where I worry Turrini may more insight to the actual prognosis than us. Maybe he knows something about development plans that we don't. But time will tell. Ferrari are definitely playing catchup. And Mercedes easily has a second advantage over Ferrari. It's a huge gap to try to close. But I hope Turrini's prognosis is inaccurate.

Preceded by what surely will be, under the commentary of my priceless friend of Robben: 'until they will go Montezemolo and Domenicali, however, nothing will change' (hello ADR and strength Bayern, God forbid).
After that.
Ferrari in the embarrassing flop of Melbourne has had its consequences.
During the week, they were replaced makers of the hybrid. To understand this, there are new heads to deal with ERS and KERS.
Internal promotions.
The names I'm not even them there to do, it is not celebrities.
The important fact is that the Australian events have had a train heavy. Style immediate reaction. Do it or die.
As the engineer Marmorini, the head of the motorists, has remained in his place, seems to understand that the feeling is confirmed that the F 14 T missing more than fifty horsepower (compared to Mercedes) due to poor functioning of the electrical and media endothermic to the turbo.
The reshuffle, in terms of units, it is a big one.
A Matteo Renzi even stuff that you could afford, at its entrance in the Palazzo Chigi.
Following question, paraphrased from a memorable film by Ettore Scola (with Sordi, Manfredi and Blier).
Will our heroes to find the horses mysteriously disappeared between ERS and a KERS? ... "
Hopefully someone will provide a better translation, but it seems that Ferrari aren't leaving many stones unturned.
quoteKimi and the fourth secret The Racing Nerd April 24, 2014 Translated by our foreign correspondent, Claudio Acquista Leo Turrini Formula1 April 23, 2014
Ah, I must tell you this story. I swear that it is all true and of course this is not to mix the sacred and the profane, God forbid. It ‘s just a witness of a curious episode that just happened… Sorry for the delay…
Fatima (*a small portoguese town in which there were three little sisters who had to keep the 3rd catholic secret)
I go there to honor a promise made twenty years ago to a friend who is no ‘more’ with us, unfortunately.
Sun
Someone has taken steps to print on the front of my t-shirt the photo in which I am portrayed alongside Kimi outside restaurant Montana (*last december). And who do you think would notice this in Fatima? A burly guy approached me. Never met him before. About my age. Presents himself. English language. Finnish, he explains. Ah. He adds, are you here, too, to understand the fourth secret? But really, I object! There are three secrets and it seems they have all been revealed! However, in this field, I’m really ignorant.
One moment, insists the man!
There are four secrets!
“And you know what is the fourth?”, exclaims the man while pointing his finger at my t-shirt?
Not that I do not know.
A great mystery, longs the caller.
A huge mystery repeats itself.
“Well, I do not know. If you know something please tell me so that I may write an article”. “I don’t know, a catastrophe, a sudden redemption, a mass (not Felipe) conversion, something like this stuff”. I am a believer, even among many doubters. And I have unlimited respect for mysticism, especially when it is a serious matter. And the guy says: “the fourth secret is the real reason why the guy who you have printed on your belly is inexorably slower than his teammate … But it cannot be revealed. Not even here.
i dot like such mysteries... but...as i always look for the positive sign, i will stay on the "mass conversion" ....the translation may be totally off but i cant make any sense out of it all, so....mass conversion, as i choose to perceive it in my head...
if you go by that story than Turrini doesn't know either why Kimi is slower so that's all what I can read from it. if there is now a real secret behind or not..
