Ferrari boss Marco Mattiacci insists Kimi Raikkonen's retirement plans are not cast in stone nor has the Finn informed that team that he plans to quit.
In the build-up to the British Grand Prix, the 2007 World Champion was asked about his future and how long he intends staying with Ferrari.
He responded: "Until my contract is finished, and then I will probably stop. That is what I think is going to happen."
The 34-year-old, though, has yet to firm up his plans with Mattiacci revealing he has not spoken with him about retiring.
And until he does, Ferrari will press ahead with Raikkonen as part of their plans.
"Kimi did not inform us that he is going to retire from F1," the Ferrari team boss said.
"He answered a question and said he doesn't know what he is going to do, he did not say he was going to retire.
"My point is that I need to work with Kimi at his best, I'm not thinking about what is happening in 2016.
"We don't have to make any announcements. The best announcements are results, they are the best announcements a team can make.
"From here we need to prepare a different team for 2015, do we need to do announcements? No. Do we need to continue improvements? Yes."
Ferrari did what they did with Kimi in 2008-2009 again, but now they did it 6 months!
Now he's back being seen as a driver who, "if he's not able to win, he's totally unmotivated and doesn't even tries to fight. So that's why he's even talking about retiring."
COME ON PEOPLE!!!
Can't anybody see through that?
And now Alonso chooses the right moment to extend his stay at Ferrari. Why would Ferrari want to change his car to Kimi's driving style if they have Alonso for lifetime?
(sorry about the rant, but was watching our F1 show last night and now even our commentators talk like this about Kimi )
an article that wonders what is happening to Kimi....perhaps i dont get the right feeling, but i think it has a view from a neutral point...but i hate to see the cover!
No, as usual, it is not very impartial. Our fellow Italian Kimi fans already have gastritis over reading it. They suggest we ignore it for our own health.
But here's a couple to help lift our spirits, (thanks to Saima)
Quote: Denorth wrote in post #440first link gave me headline (because there was an advert right underneath of the title and of the same font):
leave him alone and marry Russian women
Yesterday saw the latest F1 Racing in the shop, and there is one article about Lotus and Maldo with the title of "Please Don't Leave Me Alone, I Don't Know What I am Doing"
All these media/press should pay Kimi for the right to use his Intellectual property.
quote- They say that Raikkonen and you are having similar problems with cars this season.
-No, do not think so, really I don't know what kind of problems Kimi has, but he is one of the most naturally talented drivers on the grid, you could put him in any car and he would do better than most. For example has demonstrated his expertise in rallying, there has been with cars that slide, skid and I don't believe that he is now more slipping than on gravel or ice, much more complex surfaces.
'No doubt Alonso is doing much better in Ferrari than Kimi.
As I say, I do not know what kind of problems Kimi has, do not know what's going on in that team, but of course you have to adapt, as we have seen in previous years.
quote... Both Antti and Kimi came and visited me when I was in hospital and made it clear they were 100% behind me. That meant a lot, sometimes our sport’s so one-sided, people can forget very quickly and that’s a really cruel thing.
Does Kimi have much of a hands-on role in the team?
Yeah he does to an extent, which is cool. But he’s still racing Formula 1, so he has a really busy schedule. He came to one of the pre-season races with us and he loves riding and hanging out with the team. That’s pretty cool. I think it’s awesome to have a guy who’s so passionate about the sport behind the scenes.
