I think Vettel tried to show who is boss in the first race. What he doesnt realise is that Kimi doesnt give up and the team didnt necessarily like the fact he was contributing in Kimis missfortune. Sure, they are happy with the podium and blame the pit stops about Kimis retirement but I am sure there will be a bit of talk about fighting with the team mate. Kimi said before the season they will fight on the track likevanyone else. He just didnt realise Vettel starts right away.
quoteQ: (Paolo Ianieri – La Gazzetta dello Sport) Sebastian, what happened in the first turn with Kimi? Did you touch, the two cars? SV: No… I don’t know. I think he had a better start for sure, I got a little bit back under braking and then I think I was side-by-side with him. I don’t think it was great for him because he lost a little bit – I saw that immediately. I couldn’t make corner one as tight as I wanted to, which made him lose a couple of positions but I understand we didn’t touch and I didn’t feel anything so…
Q: (Heikki Kulta – Turun Sanomat) Sebastian, Kimi had problems in both pit stops with his tyre changes; did that put any extra pressure on your stops? SV: I don’t know what happened. Obviously in the end he didn’t finish, I don’t even know what kind of problem he suffered, which is a shame because 50% of the team didn’t finish today; that’s not our target, I think it could have been a great race even if Kimi had a bit of a bad first corner. Still, I think he could have had a great recovery because the speed was there and as far as I understand he was on the way back. Regarding the pit stops, as I said, I didn’t see his pit stops. My pit stop was OK. Next time, though, I’m sure that he wants to have cleaner pit stops if that was the case.
Q: (Vincent Marre – All Race Motorsport) Sebastian, among the races to come, which one do you feel will be the one that is easier for you, for Ferrari to catch up to the Mercedes? I think Malaysia will be difficult but what about Bahrain or Shanghai? SV: Easy, for us? I think if you look at the gap, nowhere is going to be easy. I think we have to focus on ourselves, make sure that what we learned this weekend we’re able to take into the next races. The most important thing now is that if we finish – we did finish right behind Mercedes today. We need to confirm that in the next race, that’s the priority number one, so we need to make sure that I was not just a one-off. We improve reliability. As I said, Kimi didn’t finish, which is a shame. We could have scored a lot more points today. NR: ... that you find it a shame that your teammate didn’t finish? SV: Yes. I don’t know how much you like each other but Kimi and myself we get along, so I think it is a shame. NR: I thought as a racing driver you might like it that you have a couple of points advantage over him now. I don’t want to get you off the foot there, sorry. Oops. Look at him, look at him go... SV: I can see your point. No, no. I can see that at the moment, where we are, we want to make sure we catch you guys and to do that we both need to score. Yes, I honestly think so and I honestly didn’t want to see the second car not finishing today. NR: Because I’m ready for it now, you caught me a bit off guard before but now I’m ready for it!
Quote: Olga wrote in post #61....and since i share it all with you guys, yes, i'm pissed!
Me too
But not with Vettel, with the lousy pit stops.
By the way, I'm impressed with Apple's husband guess
Yes the lousy work in the pitstops was main issue that really pissed me off. But this is the start of the season we saw a lot of mistakes yesterday, it is just unfortunate that Kimi was hit with pitstop problems twice.
Quote: Olga wrote in post #60Sonny, i tend to agree with you. and you know i'm no vettel fan, no way. i saw the move as you described it. i try to trust Kimi's gut feeling towards Seb, and say, if Kimi likes him, he must be a decent guy. but in f1, and in the track, friendships dont exist. and seb is known as being too ambitious. i just hope Kimi tries to be a bit more aggressive too. we have seen in the recent past that other drivers may take advantage of the fact that he prefers to give in than crash.
It is nice that someone else around here feels the same way as me. I thought everyone loved Vettel. lol
I would personally write this incident off as a racing incident, but I hope Kimi handles this situation like he handed the Perez situation, after the Monaco incident there were never any problems between Kimi and Perez again.
But at least this is just the start of the year it is better to have bad luck at the start of the season imo, I am really looking forward to the next race. I am greatly excited by the pace Kimi displayed, it makes me think of Kimi's time at Lotus, and since Allison is again the designer, I hope things will go the same this year. I only hope Ferrari can heat their tyres a bit better then the Lotus.
Anyways the Australian race is always somewhat of an anomaly, I hope Ferrari can be just as fast or faster on the more representative circuits. I am most interested in seeing how Ferrari will actually perform in Malaysia.
well. it was always a ridiculous thought about the fair fight. Kimi did have a car in front so it's kind of can explain him braking earlier than Vettel, but let's be honest:
there is only space for one at the top.

So what are you trying to say?
all I was trying to say that there is 'fair' and there is 'fair'- if they play a gentleman game in the first corner they both will be kicked by other cars. they have to fight and be ruthless (don't mix it with crazy) even if it is with the partner. I see Vettel's move as ruthless but fair. Even if my initial reaction was different. Still... he is a moron by a definition (at least in my opinion... remember, remember the 5th... I mean Turkey )

Kimi has some interesting radio communications during the whole weekend. I did notice that there were a lot of radio messages from Kimi in the broadcast. He is either talking more or they are transmitting his radio more. Here is my favorite during FP2:
quote David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen OK loud and clear, Kimi, loud and clear. Kimi Raikkonen David Greenwood I cannot hear you, it’s not loud enough, I cannot hear you at allDavid Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen OK, understood, switch back to normal radio if you can hear me. Kimi Raikkonen David Greenwood It’s pointless to have this radio when it’s like this, it doesn’t help at all, it’s just carrying a weight. Either we fix it or we take it out. David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen Understood.
And something interesting with Vettel as well, see like he had a mini battle with Lewis going over the weekend:
quote Riccardo Adami Sebastian Vettel It’s not clear what Vettel is referring to here – presumably he felt he was held up by Hamilton during one of the Friday sessions. Watch for Hamilton behind you. Sebastian Vettel Riccardo Adami Do you think we should pay back for yesterday?
And the retirement out of the race:
quote Kimi Raikkonen David Greenwood Something broke. David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen OK stop the car Kimi, stop the car and find a safe place to pull off. Kimi Raikkonen David Greenwood Did you leave the wheel loose? David Greenwood Kimi Raikkonen Unfortunately wheel was not tight. I’m sorry, Kimi.
