there is a limit. it doesn't mean he had more than 100 kg. There was talk about it before the race already. Apparently Ferrari had to limit fuel flow at testing already or as FIA told they would be in trouble in Melbourne. And at free practice now Mercedes may have beed a little bit over the limit too. So FIA eased the measure frequenzy before quali. Toto Wolff said that change wasn't because of them as they limited their fuel flow anyway already. They would have been 5 tenth faster then.. and RB defended Mercedes and said those fuel flow metres are not working properly and according to Renault all had problems with it.
RB are appealing that decision now.
They have more then 100kg of fuel on board if only for sampling purposes. But they are only allowed to use 100kg during the race. Put I ve seen people suggest that they have up to 120 - 130kg of onboard actually. The fuel flow is another matter of course, but it was stipulated from the start.

why should they have 120- 130 kg if they can only use 100? sure they need a bit more for sample but not that much. The issue with Ricciardo is only about fuel flow.

That is a good but that is what I ve seen speculated. Perhaps the tanks that they have can carry up to 120-130kg but they only fuel up to 110kg. Perhaps when you use to much fuel you still want complete the race, rather then just stopping next to the road.
Yes I know the issue with Ricciardo is something completely different. According to Adam Cooper the fuel flow has a direct correlation to performance, so he predicts that the FIA will take it very seriously.
Kimi Raikkonen: “That wasn’t a straightforward race. At the start, I managed to get away well and even though I was hit from behind by another car at the first corner, my car was undamaged. The speed was good, but at one point I was suffering with graining on the front tyres, I had very little grip and a lot of understeer. From then on, the car’s handling was not the same. When it was time for the first stop, we had to do a double stop and that cost me a place. It’s definitely too early to make any definite judgement, because even if at the moment we don’t seem to be in great shape, we still managed to finish the race, scoring valuable points. We can’t be pleased with this result and we know there are many areas where we need to improve. But I’m sure that analysing the data from this first race will give us a clearer idea of the direction to work in.” http://formula1.ferrari.com/news/austral...h.Y8asp8Z6.dpuf

ah okay but I looked at the regulations and that's the part:
quote29.5 No car is permitted to consume more than 100kg of fuel, from the time at which the signal to start the race is given to the time each car crosses the Line after the end-of-race signal has been given. Other than in cases of force majeure (accepted as such by the stewards of the meeting), any driver exceeding this limit will be excluded from the race results.
so they will have more fuel for the laps to the grid but for the race it will only be more weight to have more fuel since they can't use it anyway. especially now when overall weight is such a problem.
So the first race is done and it wasn´t an outstanding one for Kimi and Ferrari but the positive thing is that both cars finished in the points. I think the balance of power between the teams will chance during the season. Also Mercedes had a retirement with engine problems so problems can strike everyone.
I'm just glad that weekend is over and Raikkonen was able to score some points.
I'm quite concerned about the progress over the season. Mercedes is easily the quickest car. And I also believe Red Bull and McLaren are quicker than Ferrari. Ferrari are probably on par with Williams, and maybe even Force India. Do we know if there are any planned upgrades before the start of the European season?
The last time I saw Kimi that uncomfortable in a Formula 1 car would have to be 2009. Also in a Ferrari. It's very rare you see Kimi screw up in the braking zone and allow a competitor past (i.e. Bottas). Hopefully Ferrari can make some progress..
