Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen's fiancé, Minttu Virtanen says that their wedding will be small and intimate. - They celebrate a world away from Finland and Robin is ring bearer, she says.
When Minttu Virtanen from Tuusula met the world famous F1 driver Kimi Räikkönen in summer three years ago, the beautiful woman could not have imagined how her life would change. After visits and meetings Minttu and Kimi fell in love. Now they are engaged to be married and they have a year and four months old son Robin.
The couple walks to marriage port this summer. Minttu Virtanen who turns 30 in November told Ilta-Sanomat newspaper last year that their wedding will be abroad.
- Nothing has changed in that sense. Our wedding day is decided upon and the weddings are far from Finland, Minttu Virtanen tells Ilta-Sanomat in Monaco.
In Monaco, Minttu followed of course the F1 Grand Prix in which Kimi retired. However, the world champion has learned over the years to reset situations. Kimi's gaze has already turned to the race in Montreal. Although the race calendar is tight, drivers are granted three-week vacation during the summer.
- Wedding will be intimate and very small, only the very inner circle will take part. They will be looking for our party, Minttu says and reveals she bought the wedding dress in New York last November.
Graciously and kindly talking, Minttu reveals that Johanna Muhonen, personal trainer following the Monaco race with her, will be her maid of honour. Another bridesmaid will be a childhood friend. Kimi has one best-man.
-Johanna’s daughter is a bridesmaid and pageboy Robin carries the ring. Weddings are not, so to speak set layouts, and if Robin would even drop a ring, it is not a disaster, Minttu says with a laugh.
Minttu tells that Robin is such a social little rascal that he may even give the wedding ring to someone else than his father.
-If he gets a toy, he will be happy to give it to a friend. So, don’t know what will happen at the wedding, Minttu says with a laugh.
Speaking about the couple’s boy, Minttu’s voice softens. She tells that Robin looks like his father but the shape of the eyes and dimples, the little one has inherited from his mother.
- He has Kimi's natural curly hair, Minttu says.
Minttu has released pictures of Robin on her Instagram account. Thus she gives Kimi's fans and followers an own small glimpse of their family life. When Robin then grows up, he gets to decide how to deal with public.
- Robin is very sociable and laughs all the time. He loves people. The more he is surrounded by a crowd, the happier he is. Robin is also not at all selfish, but rather shares his toys with others. Robin is a satisfied and happy child - a complete package, Minttu says.
However, the apple has not fallen far from the tree, because Robin has already expressed interest in motorsport. His father's son Robin is interested in cars.
- When he sees the steering wheel of a car, he starts to say vroom vroom vroom. Cars and motorcycles are Robin's favourites.
In their son’s education, Minttu and Kimi are along the same lines. Both support the more old-fashioned education, the kind that they received from their parents. Robin is also number one in life.
- Sure, Robin is allowed to do, but we do not support iPads and the fact that he would sit in front of PlayStation. Children should be able to play outside, because that way they learn things. To move in nature and do sports will be good for him, says Minttu.
- He should also take into account other people. Selfishness is not good in life. Education must be assertive and set limits for a child. Robin doesn’t get something now, and also not when he is older, just by clicking his finger. If you get something, it has to be earned; Minttu opens on the couple's education methods.
Since years Kimi has talked about the wish for a family and the stability of live. Formula One driver's work is so full that when coming home the meaning of your family is important. This can remove the thoughts of demanding work.
- We are talking already a lot about the second child. The mind is one thing, but time comes, God willing, Minttu sensitized.
When Minttu is sitting in the Ferrari motorhome, many come to greet her. Kindly elegant woman always gets up and exchanges some words. Many say they are happy for her and Kimi, about upcoming wedding and son Robin.
- Robin's birth hasn’t changed Kimi as a person. He didn’t become a softy but he is the same Kimi I once fell in love with.
- I fell in love with a rough and even a little reckless Kimi and I want him to stay like that. We have mutual respect and we don’t get on each other’s way, she says.
Minttu acknowledges having a child contributes to more confidence in everything we do.
- I'm like a tiger mother when it comes to both men dear to me. I will protect their life if needed. Robin is definitely more important than myself, she emphasizes.
Minttu, who will take the surname Räikkönen after the wedding, says that Robin has to be left with a babysitter due to representative duties from time to time. Minttu tells she also sometimes has desire in the evenings to go out with female friends.
- I think that mothers should also have their own time. There is not just the performance of motherhood. I am grateful that there is a possibility for babysitting, she says.
Soon it is three years ago that Minttu Virtanen's life has changed a lot from when she met Kimi. Thinking about that, she laughs happily.
- My life is turned on its head, but in a good way. I am happier than ever, all is well. I too have calmed down and youthful party times are a nice souvenir, she jokes.

quoteFerrari extends Raikkonen's contract for 2017
By: Pablo Elizalde, News Editor 11 minutes ago
Kimi Raikkonen will stay on at the Ferrari team in 2017, the Maranello squad announced on Friday morning.
The Finn, who won his first and only title with Ferrari in 2007, rejoined the Italian outfit from Lotus in 2014, having driven for the team from 2007 to 2009.
Raikkonen, who turns 37 in October, is yet to win a race with Ferrari in his second stint with the team.
He endured difficult seasons in 2014 and 2015 alongside Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, but he is equal on points to the German in this year's championship.
His current form has convinced the Ferrari bosses that he is the right man to partner Vettel next year, when new regulations come into play.
Raikkonen said on Thursday at Silverstone that he felt he was performing as strongly as ever.
"I've always said I would not be here if I didn't enjoy it or felt that I can't drive, or do it 100 percent," said Raikkonen.
"If I wasn't motivated, I wouldn't be here wasting my own time or the team's time.
"I've always said, nearly 10 years ago, that my last team would be Ferrari and it's still like that. What happens in the future I don't know. Time will tell, but I usually don't make plans for a very long future," he added.
