quoteTurn Back Crime steps up a gear with Formula 1
Two of the world’s best known Formula 1 racing drivers – Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen – are adding their voices to the Turn Back Crime campaign.
Their video message, filmed with Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal, Marco Mattiacci, at Ferrari’s private Fiorano test track in Maranello, Italy, keeps the Turn Back Crime campaign at full throttle.
Alonso and Raikkonen are the latest high-profile figures to support the campaign, joining film star Jackie Chan, international footballer Lionel Messi, and Ducati Team, whose rider Andrea Dovizioso recently gained a podium place in the Moto Grand Prix.
These ambassadors want to inspire their millions of fans to play their role in protecting the things in life that we treasure the most. The Turn Back Crime campaign is about breaking down barriers between police and public; creating a dialogue to build a relationship of trust; an inclusive approach to help people feel safe and to help reduce the fear of any form of crime.
As part of this, it is crucial for people to understand better the crime issues of today and how they can better protect themselves and their families.
For example, buying fake goods, illicit medicines and counterfeited items isn’t about a cheaper option, it feeds organized crime and terrorism.
Turn Back Crime is gathering speed, thanks to support from Alonso, Raikkonen and others. Join them, join us, and keep the momentum going.
http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns28404.html...grandprixdotcom Italy's Autosprint reports that Luca Marmorini, Ferrari's engine chief, is "in danger" of being ousted. Correspondent Alberto Antonini said that if the rumours are true, Marmorini's younger deputy Mattia Mariz would step in.
"Fernando Alonso has revealed that he would like to contest the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world’s oldest and most famous sports car race"
quoteMattiacci ” Allison my right arm, people more aggressive at the top of the engine and chassis areas”
What is changed since you arrived in Ferrari ?
"The mindset first. Marrying the culture of risk and looking for greater integration between departments that were sometimes separated. Were assigned clear responsibilities. Today, James Allison, Technical Director, he is my right arm and one who has the final say in the development of the 2015 car . Areas and at the top of the engine and chassis there are people with aggressive ideas. I have in mind the structure of the Mercedes, with various Wolff, Lowe, Cowell … ".
Will Marmorni be fired ?
"I do not want to make names. We are redesigning our organization. I asked for a strong technical discontinuity “
Where lies the Mercedes advantage ?
"The reality lies somewhere in between. I did not ask to spend more, but targeted investments. There are no major differences in terms of budget, among the top teams. We pay the fact that Mercedes and Red Bull have done, 3-4 years ago, strategic choices result in their advantage today on the track, for example by focusing on the simulator and wind tunnel. Todt and Schumacher’s Ferrari had 110,000 km of testing at Fiorano, then F1 has changed"
Do you have hired someone for improving the hybrid systems ?
"We already have done that, beyond the exotic names that circulate (also referred to as engineers brands, such as Audi and Toyota, engaged in Le Mans, ed), strengthening us. Listening and speaking very well with uor partenrs. And with vendors such as Honeywell and Shell there is a sharing of information more closely. Out of 100 ideas, according to some studies, 30 were born on the farm and 60 come from external partners. If Williams goes so strong it is mainly about the power unit Mercedes and their synergy"
Will a year be enough to bridge the gap with Mercedes ?
"I do not answer. I like to surprise. The stability of the rules provides a way to bridge the gap. But we have to work two or three times more than a giant like the Mercedes"
Is Raikkonen still motivated ? Why do they ask this?
"I’m not sure he said so. His motivations are intact. He is a world champion, but suffers from the problems of the car and the time settling into the team. "
quote British GP: Ferrari set to retain Alonso & Raikkonen By Andrew Benson Chief F1 writer at Silverstone
Ferrari will retain their current driver line-up of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen next year, according to team boss Marco Mattiacci.
The Italian took over at Ferrari in April following the resignation of Stefano Domenicali in the wake of the team's disappointing performance.
Mattiacci described Alonso and Raikkonen as "by far the best drivers in F1" and "a fantastic combination".
And he rejected rumours either could quit by insisting both would stay on.
Alonso is frustrated by Ferrari's continuing inability to provide him with a car which is competitive enough to fight consistently for race victories and the title, and is a target for McLaren.
And Raikkonen, who joined the team for the second time this season, has been disappointing, struggling to compete with Alonso.
But Mattiacci said: "I have a fantastic couple of drivers and I am very confident they will be with us next year."
He added: "Everybody wants to win more championships and particularly Ferrari. Both Fernando and Kimi are very demanding and I understand their frustration.
"All the team are not satisfied with where we are. We need to give a better car, performing and competitive.
"At the same time their contribution is very much needed. They can make the team more united so they have a big responsibility and they understand that. There is a very good team spirit."
Alonso is contracted to Ferrari until the end of 2016, and at the British Grand Prix this weekend has rowed back on previous comments that he was talking about extending that deal by saying he was "not thinking too much now longer-term".

Ferrari has floored the throttle in its push to emerge from its 2014 slump, with reports of sweeping and significant changes in the pipeline as a host of new technical boffins arrive at Maranello.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that, in the last few days, ten new engineers started work at Maranello, including three engine experts from dominant Mercedes.
The report also claims Ferrari has successfully wooed three aerodynamicists from reigning quadruple world champion Red Bull, as well as a simulation expert.
“I have ordered a strong discontinuity on the technical side,” team boss Marco Mattiacci is quoted as saying.
And the head of Ferrari’s current engine chief, Luca Marmorini, is expected to roll.
“I do not name names,” Mattiacci insisted, “but we are redesigning our organisation.”
Eric Boullier, also pushing to end fellow grandee McLaren’s struggle, predicted a long recovery for the fabled Maranello outfit.
“It will take them a lot of time to get back on top. Why? I’ll keep that to myself,” the Frenchman is quoted by Italiaracing. (GMM)
Bianchi did 100+ laps yesterday, today he only did 63 laps so far and 1:37.195 was slower than his fastest time yesterday in the Marussia (if I remembered correctly was 1'36''4). Maybe this F14T is like the F2009 - really difficult to drive..

quote.... In truth, it's damn easy for a team to make a driver go fast in testing, any driver really. I wouldn't be worried by Bianchi doing that time but rather ask why he was set up by the team to go that fast. You can easily see from the times of Hamilton or Bottas that normally teams don't go for times during such tests.
IOW, I find it a bit suspicious that Ferrari allows Bianchi to make headlines,...
