Really sad for Kimi, this was a secure podium.... Let´s see if it was his mistake or a technical problem. He has to improve to get a new contract even if Arrivabene normally supports him and seems to get well with him. On the other side Kimi is very long in F1 and he knows the game and what they expect from from him and what to do to get a new contract.
Kimi told that his pace has been a bit affected by the saving fuel. Honestly I don't know if he realized how much Seb was faster. He couldn't explain the spin, same of last year, something happened and he couldn't do anything. Maybe he's just trying to keep calm, and I understand him, but really in his shoes I would be worried.
quote"Great recovery, P5," is Ferrari's message to Vettel. "Sorry for the first stop," he replies. "Thank you, the car was great - difficult to get more."
"I am sorry for the spin guys," Raikkonen meanwhile says to Ferrari, "but there was not much I could have done."
Wasn't a sudden surge of power from the ERS the problem last year? I think Alonso also complained about it, can this be the explanation?
quote#Kimi7 #CanadianGP: "Not the result that we wanted. The spin is exactly the same story as last year. No problems in practice, but on both outlaps there is something odd happening, it just gives a massive throttle release and you cannot control it. It's not ideal, but it is what it is. It's a very odd thing, because obviously we do practices and similar stuff. So far this year there's been no issues, so who knows? The tyres were working more or less fine, but on this kind of circuit fuel saving was a big part and that really limited our speed today in the end."
