Zitat von Boudica As usual Kimi's strategy wasn't exactly correct. He was one of the last drivers to get inters and only got to do one lap, on which there was a yellow flag in the last sector. But atleast he got through.
Wasn't that also Kimi's fault? He didn't post a fast time on wet tyres early on and as soon as he did that he went to pits to change the tyres. That's how I saw it anyway but maybe I missed something.
But I'm not sure if it's good that he has only Slade as his engineer. Last year with Slade&Rennie worked great in the second half of the season.
That doesn't really make sense. Clearly it was quite tricky getting enough space to run a quick lap. It seems like getting space was the biggest problem. The inters alone took about 2 - 3 laps to really turn on, and then you also obviously needed a clear lap.
Lotus should have pitted both drivers for inters right after Di Resta set the first purple sector on the inters, this is the type of information that only engineers on the pitwall can see. A driver wouldn't have a clue about who is setting fast times and on which tyres they are setting those times.
It is no use keeping a driver on the track to chase a lap time with the wrong tyres. Even if you set a blazing lap on full wets you will always be about 5 seconds slower then another driver on inters. If you going to keep someone out on track to chase a lap time, at least have him on the right tyres.
But as I said atleast Kimi made it through in the end, but they left it really late especially with Kimi.

I hate to quote myself but Lotus basically just made the same mistake twice in one qualifying session. They really needed to get both Kimi and Grosjean out on track as the tyres needs a lap to heat up. Kimi and Grosjean needed another lap. So the bad strategies continue.
