If technical rules haven't allowed big changes in F1 2013, then at least the policy of the teams have been made new when it comes to the opening test in Jerez.
So far only Mercedes and Toro Rosso will be presented on the eve of the test-session and the teams in the zero-club, Caterham and Marussia, will be flashed during the morning of the first driving day.
A real landmark will be the Red Bull - who has emptied the championship tables three times in a row - and who presented their 9th F1-car in Milton Keynes factory on Sunday. Last years their novelties have been presented sort of beside the work on the paddock.
A year ago Lotus was strongly represented on Jerez paddock one day before the testing started. Now Kimi Räikkönen does the same as WDC Sebastian Vettel and flies to Spain only for his own test-period on Thursday.
Fernando Alonso again shines completely with his absence for which the organizers in Jerez are most sorry for, because no rush is expected.
Mark Webber starts Red Bull's tests just like last year. It would be interesting to know what the Australian really thinks about the upcoming season.
Helmut Marko let understand after last season that he was not happy in Webber as a team player.
At times it looked even for an outsider that Webber made overtakes more easier for Alonso than for his actual teammate when they both battled for the championship.
I would guess that Webber's final countdown starts when the season begins. Red Bull would surely rather give wings to Vettel's 4th consecutive championship. If Webber can live with that, then he has a seat in the future also. If not, then someone else will be driving Red Bull's other turbo-car next year...
